Upon completion of their academic program, international students have the opportunity to seek a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), classified as an Open Work Permit. This unique permit empowers graduates to pursue employment in any job of their choice without any restrictive conditions. Notably, neither a Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) nor a confirmed job offer is a prerequisite for a PGWP application.

  • To qualify for a Post-Graduate Work Permit, candidates must adhere to the following criteria:
  • Apply for the work permit within 90 days of obtaining written confirmation (e.g., transcript or official letter) from their educational institution, affirming the fulfillment of program requirements.
  • Complete and pass the designated program of study, receiving notification of eligibility to obtain the degree, diploma, or certificate.
  • Maintain a valid study permit at the time of applying for the work permit.
  • This process ensures that eligible graduates can seamlessly transition from their academic pursuits to gainful employment in Canada, contributing to their professional growth and experience.
